Rug Washing & Rinsing: Step 3 to a Cleaner Rug
The way your rug is washed depends on the results of the primary and secondary inspection and the results of the colorfastness test. Most importantly, your rug’s construction and the materials it’s made out of ultimately determine the amount of moisture your rug can handle.
Pre-Spotting
Referring to your inspection sheet and your rug specialist, a technician goes over each stain and adds the appropriate pre-spotting agents and mechanical action necessary for effective stain removal. This is an important step in the cleaning of your Oriental or contemporary rug, because it allows for a more gentle cleaning process in the end.
Immersion Cleaning
This refers to the cleaning method in which your rug is completely submerged in a fresh water bath…like you are pampering your rug at a resort & spa on St. Pete Beach. This type of cleaning process is especially effective at removing pet urine stains. It may seem crazy to you to have your whole rug soaking wet, but rest assure, with the proper and professional rug cleaning detergents you have nothing to worry about. It is the ultimate spa treatment for your rug
Extraction Cleaning
Rugs that might have bled during the colorfastness test or that have a tendency to shrink are safely cleaned with the extraction method. Using a small cleaning head, a fine mixture of water & detergents is sprayed deep down into your rug. Also, connected to this cleaning head is a powerful vacuum; which instantly sucks up almost all of the moisture. Each pass leaves your rug practically dry to the touch, so there is no chance of colors bleeding or enough wet time for shrinking to occur. This process can be repeated time after time to get out the toughest stains without ever getting your “temperamental” rug wet.
Fresh Water Rinsing
Both washing methods end with fresh water rinsing, this can be hosed on or misted on by the extraction method. The rinsing process is repeated until the water that comes off your rug is crystal clear and down-right drinkable! This allows the professional rug cleaner to be confident that all the dirt, stains and odors have been successfully removed. Once rinsed your clean rug is ready to be safely dried.
